31 year old Brad Pauls AKA "The Newquay Bomb" fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he became British Middleweight Champion headlining the Franks Warren show in Birmingham on 20th July 2024.
Brad put on a fantastic performance which ended with a 12th round knock out of then champion Nathan Heaney. The first three rounds were all for Heaney but then in the fourth Brad let rip with a massive straight right hand which sent Nathan to the canvas. Brad went on to win the fifth round and it was even at this stage.
The second half of the contest belonged to Brad Pauls. He hurt Heaney several times before finally knocking him out in the twelth. At the time of the stoppage Brad was 5 rounds, 2 rounds and 2 rounds ahead on the three judges cards.
"Anything now is a bonus" said Brad. "I now have new dreams to fulfil".
For Manager Steve Goodwin this was his third British Champion and the first that he has managed from debut so this was a special occasion for him as well. It does show loyalty pays off.
