33 year old Lewis Oakford won the Commonwealth Silver Cruiserweight title with a Comprehensive points victory over Deevorn Miller at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
Oakford who had lost his previous contest in freakish circumstances when he was destined to win for the area title, made sure there was no misfortune this time. Boxing behind the jab and with a high punch output, Oakford clocked up the rounds. With Miller not being able to compete for work rate and accuracy he was always looking for the big punch (having a 75% knock out ration). Oakford was ready for this and kept away from the swinging power punches.
There was no doubt of the winner at the end of the 12 rounds as Oakford won 100-90, 97-93 ad 98-92.
Lewis will now sit down with manager Steve Goodwin to plan his next move.
